Xbox Series X won’t load Fortnite after trying EVERYTHING

I’ve been trying for about a week to log into Fortnite after a small hiatus from the game. It went from stuck on the connecting screen to now stuck on the island animation at the start of the game.

I’ve tried clearing my cache, hard restart, cold restart, logging from another account, unplugging the router, resetting my MAC, clear persistent storage, clear local storage. I’ve even factory reset my Xbox completely except for 1 other game (Minecraft) which works fine.

The whole system seems to start lagging when I try to open the game (can’t open side menus or power up menus). I’ve talked to Epic and they’ve pointed me toward Microsoft and Microsoft says theirs nothing wrong. Everything works fine except for Fortnite! I’d love to know if their is something I can try or if I’m at least not alone here!

Hi bobaganoosh1313, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

Just a friendly reminder though that if the issue is only happening with one game and you have already performed all the necessary steps it may mean that there is an issue with the game itself.

As part of testing if it's the game or the console, kindly try to install other games as well to check if it will work just fine.

If yes, you may need to get this investigated further by Epic Games.

Hi Kate, you should be able to find a phone number for Microsoft on google. For everyone who has commented since my comment, I thought I’d give a quick update. There was no way to fix my Xbox, none of the trouble shooting steps from Microsoft or epic games could fix it. I spoke with Microsoft on the phone and they said I could send it away to be fixed but that it would be unlikely they’d actually be able to fix it and the best they could do would be to send a second hand one back at no expense. But because I had just bought mine they said the shop I bought it from is responsible for a new replacement. Thought this would helpful for some of you, since I know you guys don’t have warranty left. This is most likely what Microsoft will offer you. Good luck guys, I don’t understand how such a modern console can struggle with just one game

Not yet, I have spoken to Microsoft and they have said to send it for repair. Mine is out of warranty, however as its a software related issue and not hardware. So it should be down to them to fix it. I am just waiting for conformation on how this will work.
