    Xbox Series X Will Not Update Minecraft


    Just today Minecraft recently released their 1.17 update, and I’ve been wanting to play it but have been unable to. My console is having serious difficulties downloading it and I’m not sure why. It’s displaying Minecraft installing in my queue, and below the title of the game it says “updating,” but stays at 0 percent. No mb/s either. I’ve tried turning off and on my console, resetting, power cycling, uninstalling the game and reinstalling digitally, uninstalling and reinstalling with a disk, (base game installs but it doesn’t update,) resetting my alternate MAC address, disconnecting and reconnecting the internet, changing internet entirely, and hard resetting my console (keeping games and apps.) Nothing has worked, and I can’t find any other ways to troubleshoot this on the internet. I’ve seen some forums with similar posts, so I’ll get these out of the way. I own the game on my account via gamepass and have it on disk. No other games or apps are in the instillation queue. I have enough space in storage. Any ideas as to why I’m having this issue?

    Xbox Series X games / upgrades / updates has to be installed onto the Series X internal or expansion card SSD,

    You can have Xbox One games on your external hard drive that will get an Series X upgrade but the games will need to be transferred to the Series X and then the Series X upgrade will need to be downloaded onto the Series X SSD,

    As an example...

    I have Marvel Avengers on my external hard drive that will get the Series X upgrade and I will transfer the game over to the Series X SSD ready to download and update the game to the Series X version when available.

    Microsoft introduces "Smart Delivery" with the Xbox Series X, which means, that if you own an existing game (like Minecraft in your example, or Gears 5) or a new game comes out for Xbox One and Xbox Series X with improved graphics on Series X, you won't
    have to buy the game twice.

    With Smart Delivery you will play the "enhanced" version on Series X, and the "normal" version on Xbox One.
