    Xbox series x wifi compatibility with hidden networks.


    Just received my series X today and during the setup had a big setback with setting up my network via wifi. Tried multiple different solutions hard resseting the xbox, resetting the modem splitting the 2.4 and 5 ghz networks and then finally just used a
    50ft ethernet cable which obviously worked. After needing the ethernet for something else I decide to just make my network visible to the world and tried to Connect my xbox to it and it instantly worked.

    I dont believe anyone else ever had this issue with any older gen consoles, my xbox one had zero issue with setting up to my hidden wireless network.

    So I guess my question is: why does the series x need my network to be visible to connect to it?

    Is it an issue with all series x’s and its hardware or just my console?

    Microsoft won't fix connections to hidden wifi networks on Xbox Series X/S

    The xbox series x/s is completely incapable of connecting to hidden wifi networks. There are various tricks/hacks people are using which may or may not work, but it is not supported natively.

    I cannot connect to hidden wifi networks. It will not find my ssid when manually entered.

    If your router/AP chipset is Wifi 6, it will not work. You need an older Wifi AP.
    I using a netgear R6700 which is wifi 5. Still couldn't get it to work.

    Wanted to reply to this to say thanks this worked! It didn't work the first time around but waiting a little longer before hitting the Xbox button worked and my hidden ssid showed up in the list.
    What router do you have?
