Xbox Series X stops installation of any disc inserted

For us to best isolate the issue, I suggest to try those discs on a different console too.

Hi, thank you for replying back. I don't have an external hard drive but I tried the other options and they did not fix the problem, games are still stopping at the percentages from the last post. I did try one more game, THPS 1+2 and somehow that installed just fine, no problems. The weird thing is it has a few scuffs but the other games didn't have much scuffs or scratches on it. Im not sure if it's a thing for the series X but my Xb1 would tell me if a disc is damaged and to check it if it won't play but I'm not getting any warnings about it.

I'm sorry to hear that. Here are the steps that you can try for your concern.

Solution 1. Do you have an external hard drive plugged in to the console right now?

If yes, can you unplug it and Please Turn off console > (press and hold power button for 10 seconds) unplug everything from the console > wait for 2 minutes and plug everything back > Turn On the console.

Once done, please check if the issue still persist while the external hard drive is unplugged.

Solution 2. Please insert your game disc half way to your console's disc drive. You will feel that the console is pulling the game disc in. Hold it for about 1 second and then release the game disc.

Solution 3 Try to do a soft factory reset without removing any games and apps.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Settings > System > Console info > reset then keep my games and apps.

NOTE: This will delete the profiles on your account, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

The Xbox series X will not read the MW2 disc, I have returned it and tried 3 separate copies of the MW2 disc, the console will play other games/discs and read dvds/blue rays as well. But will not read any MW2 disc I insert into the console. The disc will read on my Xbox one. I installed it there and network transferred all the data to the series X and upgraded all the data that was transferred but the console refuses to read the MW2 disc.

This is an incorrect assumption. You can insert an xbox one disc and download updates that may improve visuals and frame rates on Xbox Series X/S but in order to play you still need the disc unless you own the digital version of it.

Xbox Series X will utilize the Xbox One X version of enhancements while Xbox series S will use the Xbox One S enhancements.

You will not get a free game by borrowing or renting a physical version of a game and installing it on Xbox Series X/S.
