Xbox series X stopped install from disc

hello

i just bought myself a Xbox series X and i am having an issue installing games from hard copy (disc). when i put the game into the console it will start to download but it will only install about 5.0% of the game. I have hard reset my console, cleared the hard drive of local saved, tired installing offline and when i go to install the disc on my Xbox one it works fine no issue. I would just like so help or some clarification on any know issue

Hi Adam, I hope you're doing great despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

I would like to clarify, is this happening with all of your disc copy games? If no, let's try to download them digitally by following the steps below:

1. Cancel the download and remove the disc on your Xbox console.

2. Sign in to your Xbox App and search for the title of the game.

3. Click Download to Console.

4. Once fully installed insert the disc to play the game.

Cansel the install leave the disk in the console go to the Microsoft store type the name of the game in it should say you can install this click install do note it will take up more space because you are installing the game digitally off the store using the games ownership license

I can't help with anything to resolve it.

I will say that, when I bought FH2 on disc back in 2020, I encountered the exact same issue with my Xbox One X...it would install from disc for anywhere from 5-30 minutes and then installation stopped. Didn't have the issue with my FH1 disc nor any other discs and FH2 installed without issue when I installed it onto my Series X.

It ended up being an excruciating process of needing to go to games and apps and click to continue the install process each time....it took me the best part of a week in the end to install it and that was with it installing between 6 and 10 hours a day.

Is it actually cancelling the installation or does it just say "installation stopped"? I ask as sometimes Xbox One consoles have issues with some discs....I spent a week installing Forza Horizon 2 from disc on my One X as the install kept stopping after a couple of minutes and I would have to manually resume it

Yes.

I bought a second hand series X and the game runs, reads and installs just fine.

Same disc.

My brother had the same issue. Got a full refund on the disc and downloaded from the store and it runs fine (at full price unfortunately)

It's these XS discs in the Xbox One drives.

They are wanting to stop trade ins of physical copies is my guess.

They'll never admit it of course.
