Xbox Series X settings keep changing every time I turn on my console

Almost every time I turn on my Xbox all of my settings are changed. My password/pin will be deleted or it's changed to something else than what I set it too. Random games are downloaded that I've never played before. It's getting annoying to continuously have to change everything to the way I had set it before I turned off my Xbox. Why is my Xbox doing this

    :)

Xbox Series X settings keep changing every time I turn on my console

Hi there Mac D. I am Lumie and I would love to assist you today.

I am so sorry you are having issues with what looks like a compromised account.

    Thankfully, we can fix this!

You can see if they are using your Xbox by logging into this part of your account: [account.live.com/Activity]

It would also be good to contact your bank for fraud prevention.

Then it's best to secure your account by operating off this dashboard: [account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional]

The two most important steps are changing your password and enabling two factor verification. The better version is the 'Passwordless option'.

Then you should update all of your recovery information to ensure you at least have 3 forms and then generate a 25 digit code. After, this you can sign everyone out.

You can find your Order History here: [account.microsoft.com/billing/orders], you can talk to billings about any unauthorised purchases.

The last step is to fully secure your account is to change your log-in alias.

You do no need to complete this step, it is only to guarantee the utmost protection and remove all log-in attempts going forward.

By changing your log-in alias, the leaked information is no longer relevant and you will no longer receive log-ins.

    "Go to Add an alias.

Sign in to your Microsoft account, if prompted. [https://account.live.com/AddAssocId]

Under Add an alias, do one of the following:

Create a new Outlook.com email address and add it as an alias.

Add an existing email address as an alias.

    Select Add alias."

These steps and more information can be found here: [https://support.microsoft.com/office/459b1989-356d-40fa-a689-8f285b13f1f2]

Now you can go to this site: [account.live.com/SignInPreferences] and turn off your sign in options for the past alias.

Your email address will operate completely as normal, but now you must sign in with another email address.

    I hope this helps!

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. -Lumie =)

Please could you check if you are using the latest software on your Xbox?

To check if the software on your Xbox Series X is up to date, follow these steps:

    1. **Turn on Your Xbox Series X**:
    - Press the Xbox button on your controller to turn on the console.

    2. **Navigate to Settings**:
    - Use the controller to navigate to the "My games & apps" tab on the Xbox dashboard.

    3. **Access System Settings**:
    - Scroll down and select "Settings" from the list of options.

    4. **Open System**:
    - In the Settings menu, select "System" to access system-related settings.

    5. **Check for Updates**:
    - Within the System settings, select "Updates" to check for software updates.

    6. **Update Console if Available**:
    - If there's a software update available for your Xbox Series X, you'll see an option to update your console.
    - Follow the on-screen prompts to initiate the update process.

    7. **View Update History** (Optional):
    - If you want to see the history of updates applied to your console, you can select "Update history" within the Updates section.

    8. **Wait for the Update to Finish**:
    - If an update is available and you choose to proceed, your console will download and install the update. This may take some time, and your console will restart during the process.

    9. **Restart Your Console** (If Needed):
    - After the update is installed, your Xbox Series X will restart to apply the changes.

It's important to keep your Xbox Series X up to date to ensure you have access to the latest features, improvements, and security patches. If you experience any issues with the update process or need further assistance, you can visit the Xbox Support website or contact Xbox Support directly for help.

    Hope this helps

My Series S turned its self on last night.

is it supposed to turn on though?
As stated above this occurs when the console checks for a system update and the time, 3am, is around the time when its mandatory to update, US time.

During the stage between Verifying and Applying, when the consoles restarts during the update, the Xbox button on the console will flash or pulse about 15-20 times for a XBox OneX and about 6-10 times for a Xbox Series X.

So, the consoles are designed specifically to turn themselves on in the middle of the night to run updates? That is a seriously bad design if you ask me...there's no reason for it to do that. None of my other electronics turn themselves on...my TV and PC both update when I turn them on. Looks like I'll start unplugging my Xbox at night in that case.

Having said that, neither my One X or Series X have installed system updates when turned off...they wait until I turn the thing on

    Obsolete Consoles

I dont believe that current consoles will be obsolete after series X launches. Please keep in mind that there is still time for series X to be launched and current consoles are not going anywhere.
