    XBOX Series X seagate external hard drive not working


    When I connect my external to my Xbox, the lights come on but my games aren't popping up on my Xbox. When I tried plugging it up to my laptop, nothing came up either. The xbox isn't recognizing the external drive but all the lights on the drive are still coming on. I've tried switching to other USB ports but I can't get my games to come up.

    Hi,

    External hard drives are not fast enough for Xbox Series X|S titles. Unfortunately you can't play these games off slow USB external hard drives. They need either be installed internally or to an optional Xbox Series X|S Expansion card.

    Xbox Series X|S games can only be installed on the console's internal storage or the external Seagate SSD card. Link here. External drives are too slow for those games. The external hard drive can only be used to install backward compatible games (Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One).

    Regular external hard drives are not fast enough to run Series S/X enhanced games properly. So those games can only run from the internal drive or the Seagate expansion card (as that is currently the only external device that will work for those games).

    Any games that are Series S/X optimized can only run on the internal hard drive or the Seagate Expansion card. The external hard drive you are using can only store them.
