Xbox Series X/S Home System vs XB1 Home system, Ultimate Game Pass

As ngocphi has pointed out, you can't download X/S games to an Xbox One console. The account with the actual Game Pass Ultimate subscription can play these games via the cloud but cloud gaming is not sharable. It is a feature only available to the account with the subscription. A second account on the "Home" Xbox One will not be able to play any X/S games through the cloud unless they actually purchase Game Pass Ultimate.

Clear Cache

Turn off your Xbox Series X|S using the controller or the Power Off button on the console.

Unplug the power cable from the back of your Xbox Series X|S.

Wait at least two minutes.

Plug the cable back into your Xbox Series X|S.

Turn your Xbox Series X|S back on.

After completing these steps please reboot your Xbox.

After this, please remove the profile and add it again. Here are the steps:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select System > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.

When you're finished, select Close.

Then, proceed to add it again.

Next, please make sure your Xbox is set as a home console. To do it please follow the next instructions:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select System > Settings > Personalization, and then select My home Xbox.

Select Make this my home Xbox to designate the console as your home Xbox.

Let's give a shot in-game again.

Then, let's check there's no pending update of the console by following the next instructions:

Make sure that your console is connected to the internet, and then press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system> Settings > System > Updates.

Under Updates, you can see:

Console update available. Select this to begin your update, or

No console update available. This means your console is up to date.

If there's a pending update please allow it to be completed.

Finally, please open the game and check if it works.

Do still need some clarification. I will try to be very specific.

Xbox One S = home xbox. Profiles A (mine), profile B, profile C

Xbox Series x = new xbox. Profile A will use this only. The intention is to not designate this as a home xbox for any user.

If I purchase a digital game on my profile A and install it on the Xbox Series X first, does this stop me installing it at a later date on the home xbox. If 2 or 3 months pass and I then install the game on the home xbox, will profile B and profile C also have access?

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate works in up to two locations

a) The declared Home machine of the Game Pass Ultimate owner

b) Whichever machine the Game Pass Ultimate owner is currently logged into

In the case of b) , the Game Pass Ultimate does not need to be the active user. You could have two users logged in and while the owner is logged in, the other user on that non-Home machine will be able to play as well (or instead as long as the owner remains
logged in - active or inactive)

So you could give the Game Pass Ultimate to one son but get him to declare the other son's machine as his home machine.

There are gotchas

- the non "Home" machine must always be internet connected. No internet, no Game Pass Ultimate. The Home machine will always work regardless (but may need internet from time to time for confirmation)

- be careful with changing Home machine too often - there is a limit on how many times you can declare a machine as "Home" - 5 changes per year at the moment.

Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 (and PC) are treated separately ; so you could set up 2 x Xbox1 and 2 x Xbox 360 using the one Game Pass Ultimate account with one Xbox 1 and one Xbox 360 each declared as "Home".

A user can only be logged in to one Xbox 1 AND one XBox 360 (and PC as well) at the same time

am the Pass owner)

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have question on the next gen console. Unfortunately, there is no information on the home console setting for the series X. Personally in my opinion I think the setting will continue.
