    Why cant Xbox support USB audio for active speakers etc. like Playstation? It would be so much better than having to plug speakers via optical to the TV, who knows what different TV manufacturers does with the audio and if Sony can do it, why cant Microsoft?

    Xbox Series X - I can no longer turn off hdmi audio since installing the september update

    I have almost the same problem except the error message says

    “if you’re using Xbox series X/S, note that HDMI audio can’t be turned off. In other consoles, either optical or HDMI audio must be on. (0x80bd0009)

    Why can’t I turn off hdmi audio on Xbox series x it makes no sense?

    It should be in settings/general/volume & audio/additional options & power chime is on the far right.

    No such thing as an Xbox One Series X. The Xbox One family of consoles has an S and an X but are still just Xbox Ones. You need the Series family of consoles. The Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X. These are different from Xbox One S or Xbox One X.

    The "One" and "Series" are the console types.

    Well that sucks the same games worked fine with external audio playing a couple years ago but it's probably a limitation with the Xbox OS to get it running on Xbox one and Xbox series x/s consoles (if they are the same OS)
