Xbox series x plastic smell

I have had my console for about a month give or take a few days and I was wondering is a plastic smell normal. It is slightly there when the console is cooled down but is barely noticeable but when heated up the smell is quite noticeable and can only really be smelled of you were beside the console or directly over it. It doesn’t smell like a burning type of smell more of a warm smell with a soap or plastic type of smell on the side. Is this smell normal and just happens with every console since it hasn’t seemed to go away any.

Is it located in a closed area? It should be within a couple of weeks, depending on the usage and ventilation.

I recommend that you keep on observing it. Since it's not overheating, there's less reason to be concerned.

I understand you are concerned about the smell you notice on your Xbox console. Similar to other devices, a plastic-like smell is normal when your console is fresh out of the box, and it should fade over time. However, if the smell occurs while the console is overheating, it could be due to poor ventilation or a dust buildup. If the smell is not fading and/or getting stronger even after a few months of use (when it’s expected to fade), it may be worth having a technician check it. If it's still under warranty, consider sending it in for a checkup or repair.

It’s in a open area with plenty of room and the smell can only be smelled if your directly over the console you can’t even smell it if your face is next to it only above it.

Okay that’s good to know that it’s at least normal. I owned another console that had a similar smell I guess I shouldn’t worry about it unless it’s pungent or smells like burning.

Got it. We experienced the same thing in the past, but I could no longer recall how long it took until we completely could not smell it.
