Xbox Series X Party Chat

Ive had trouble for a few weeks now on and off trying to join and stay in an xbox live party chat with friends...

every time I would reset my xbox, take the plug out, reset my router thinking it was the internet but no... I would then contact Microsoft and get useless feedback telling me to go to settings and reset my MAC address, doing this several times a day can't be good... I've done everything else the online services have instructed and nothing is helping... my brother and another friend also have the Xbox series X and it happens to them too, but my friend with the Xbox One has no problems, the worst part is that it doesn't even tell us when we have left the party so were chatting to ourselves until an invite pops up to rejoin...

can anyone help with this ongoing issue??

Everywhere (including all games even series x games show the new gamertag but in parties/chat, on the homescreen, in the xbox app, and in the system menus show the old one.

Hashbrown, I have the same setup with my xbox series X, do you have any issues with party chat and game volumes or echoing in the party chat? Do you have any idea if I can alter audio settings for the mic through my computer?

Hello again,

There is not an option to uninstall discord from the Xbox Series X. Discord does not show up as an app, as it is integrated directly into the party chat functionality. Are you suggesting that I unlink the discord account?

Exactly!!!

And then the only reply I get is ‘it must be an internet issue, reset your router, it’s a router issue, go into your router and do this…’

NO… it’s a problem with these new Xbox’s that aren’t getting resolved, it’s happened to most people I know with the new Xbox so how can it be all of our routers!??

I’m guessing you’ve had the same problem and not been able to resolve it!?

Since you tried all the steps you mentioned above, it might be a network issue.

Try to open ports on your router or gateway so that your network hardware can communicate with the Xbox network servers.

Start your web browser.
In the Address bar, type the default IP address for your router or gateway, and then press Enter. Consult your device documentation or the manufacturer’s website to learn how to configure and update your specific network hardware. Here are the default IP addresses for a few router and gateway manufacturers:
- Belkin: 192.168.2.1
- Linksys by Cisco: 192.168.1.1
- D-Link: 192.168.0.1
- NETGEAR: 192.168.0.1. or 192.168.1.1
Type your user name and password (for your router or gateway), and then click OK. If you don’t know the default user name and password, refer to your hardware manufacturer’s documentation.
When you’re logged in, you should see your router or gateway's configuration page.
Open the following ports:
- Port 88 (UDP)
- Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) (If this is your second console, enter the port number you selected above when you manually set Alternate port selection.)
- Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
- Port 80 (TCP)
- Port 500 (UDP)
- Port 3544 (UDP)
- Port UDP 4500 (UDP)
