Xbox Series X partition recovery on SSD

Xbox Series X went offline during an update. Now the Xbox turns on for 1 second and immediately turns off. There is currently no Microsoft support or service centers in my country. I began to study the problem and came to the conclusion that I had problems with the internal SSD. When the ssd is disconnected, the console turns on and the fan starts to work, but there is no image. I connected the SSD to the computer through the docking station and found that there are no partitions on it at all. I also found information on the Internet that Xbox Series consoles use a special partition on the internal SSD to boot the console. How can I restore it? Cloning the SSD from a working second console didn't help. Please help, my Xbox right now is just a $500 piece of plastic.

Hello ExDaniel174, sorry to hear you're having trouble with your console.

Although I do understand you mentioned there are no repair centers in your country I'm afraid that Xbox does have specific rules about self repair. As you've taken your console apart we're unable to help with any type of fix.

However, what I can tell you is that the Xbox OS is proprietary information and is not found online.

Xbox Series X games / upgrades / updates has to be installed onto the Series X internal or expansion card SSD,

You can have Xbox One games on your external hard drive that will get an Series X upgrade but the games will need to be transferred to the Series X and then the Series X upgrade will need to be downloaded onto the Series X SSD,

As an example...

I have Marvel Avengers on my external hard drive that will get the Series X upgrade and I will transfer the game over to the Series X SSD ready to download and update the game to the Series X version when available.

Yo Microsoft, let us use our Game Pass subscription on Macs running Windows 10 from an external SSD or I won’t get the Series X. We don’t want a Windows partition or Virtual Machine polluting the internal storage of our Mac lol

An Xbox One model had a hybrid hard drive/SSD. Now currently the Xbox Series X|S only has a SSD drive in it.

I am also using a WD Black P50 (NVMe SSD 2TB) with my Xbox Series X and It works just great on last generation games. Make sure to plug the drive into your Xbox Series X and then format the SSD drive for games (you also have the option to format it for media). The drive must be formatted using your Xbox Series X (NOT a PC). Happy gaming .
