Xbox Series X keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi randomly

Please update your router firmware. Visit your router manufacturer's website and look for the support or downloads section.

And then clear alternate MAC Address. To do this, please go to Settings > Network > Advanced settings and clear the alternate MAC address.

Next is set a manual DNS, please go to settings> network> network settings> Advanced settings>DNS Settings> Manual.

PRIMARY DNS: 8.8.8.8

SECONDARY DNS: 8.8.4.4

Kindly use an Ethernet cable to connect your Xbox to the router for a more stable connection.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues where your Xbox disconnects from your Wi-Fi randomly. here are a lot of possible reasons why this happens and here are the things that you could take into consideration.

1. Change the channel of your Wi-Fi - either avoid the interfering channel all together OR set your AP on the offending channel. There are collision avoidance mechanisms on Wi-Fi that will prevent the offending AP from transmitting when your network is, and make your network wait when they are transmitting. The worst case in any wireless network is a retransmission - this means at least 2x wasted time. Lower bandwidth with no retransmissions gives better performance than high capacity channel with retransmissions and collisions.

2.Change bandwidth - normally wide channels are default, and you might go to smaller channels to minimize interference. e.g. Default channel width on 5 GHz AP might be 80 MHz - if you truly have interference, you might get better performance on a 40 MHz or 20 MHz channel.

3. Move your Wi-Fi access point closer to your Wi-Fi clients to improve signal quality. Or move your AP to a more centralized location to your Wi-Fi clients.

4. Reduce interference from other devices. Common sources include microwaves, cordless phones, and Bluetooth devices. Try to keep these devices away from your router or to your Xbox.

we have a Wi-Fi extender but it doesn't do much for the Wi-Fi itself my Xbox itself is cabled. the connection is fine it's just that it randomly disconnects

If that worked would that prove that the Wi-Fi receiver in the Xbox is at fault ?
