  1. Xbox Series X HDMI-CEC Bug - Turning off the Xbox does not turn off the LG TV

This video shows exactly what is happening: https://youtu.be/8VAbfkq2OS4

    But as a description:

    1. Turning on the Xbox Series X turns on the TV
    2. Turning off the Xbox Series X does not turn off the TV
    3. Turning off the TV does turn off the Xbox Series X
    4. Turning on the TV does not turn on the Xbox Series X

Description 2 is inconsistent to what I experienced with the Xbox One and appears to be a bug.

The TV is an LG 42LF5500 and it was all working on my old Xbox One. I had also previously sent a support request off to LG who advised me to update the firmware of the TV (was already at the latest version) and to go back to Xbox support as it was working with an older Xbox device.

Today I spent a few hours on the online chat with Charlie C where we reset the TV, reset the Xbox (both keep data, and remove all data), Manual update install, unset HDMI-CEC options (then restarted the console), reset HDMI-CEC options (then restarted the console) and the same issue persists.

: Xbox One X won't turn on my TV anymore

Have you checked the TV itself?

I have an LG TV (different model) and sometimes HDMI-CEC is disabled on my Xbox One X's HDMI input after I change audio output (if I want to use my headphones for a while, for example). Its weird, I've never been able to get to the bottom of why
it happens but, sure enough, go to my TV's general settings while on the HDMI input and SIMPLINK (LG's name for HDMI-CEC) is off. Turn it back on and I'm good to go.

Xbox one won't turn on my insiginia tv when I turn the console on

Hi TexasMaster9351! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

HDMI-CEC is supported only on Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. You must also enable HDMI-CEC on your TV.

Xbox Series X|S consoles can use an HDMI feature called Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) to send commands to and from CEC-enabled devices (such as TVs and AVRs) that are connected to the console.

This feature can be turned on and off via the TV & A/V power options settings screen. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, then go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Sleep mode & startup > TV & A/V power options.

X1 stopped turning on and off my audio receiver since update

Don't count on Microsoft adding HDMI-CEC. That would require you to turn on your cable box first and not the X1. And that assuming cable boxes have HDMI-CEC capabilities (I don't have cable so I don't know, but my HD antenna converter box does not support
CEC). Unless they somehow send a distinct IR signal to the cable box and use HDMI-CEC through the X1 to the TV/audio receiver. And isn't HDMI-CEC send the signal up to turn on and comes down to turn off. Wouldn't that mean you'd turn your X1 on to turn your
entertainment systems all on and have to turn your TV off to turn everything off?

Thendercleetz, HDMI-CEC support doesn't have to be an 'all or nothing' feature. If given the proper configuration settings, Kinect IR blaster and HDMI-CEC could work in tandem quite well. As you say most cable boxes don't support this feature, so they would
be continued to controlled by the Kinect, the rest by HDMI-CEC (with the ability to turn this on/off). As for the Power On/Off, HDMI-CEC is a two-way communication if you turn the Xbox on and the TV and AVR are both already powered on it's checks that and
does nothing. For powering off, we would need to be given an additional option (just as PS4 does). 'Power off console only', and 'Power off all components'.

    Xbox One S HDMI issue

It's probably due to the TV sending a
    CEC signal
    via HDMI.

Check if your TV has a setting to turn these CEC functions off. However, most TV makers don't call it CEC, but something fancy like VIERA Link, Anynet+, Aquos Link.

Turn off those CEC commands, and your Xbox should stay off when you start the EPG.
