XBOX Series X Hard Crashes While Playing NBA 2K22

Hi,

As the title indicates, my brand new XBOX Series X keeps hard crashing (turning power completely off) when playing NBA 2K22. It first seemed isolated to a specific quest in MyCareer, but now has happened in other modes as well. The symptoms are the same, without any warning or indication of an issue, the console suddenly shuts off in the middle of a game. There are no error messages when this happens or when the console restarts.

Additional details:

• I'm playing the next gen version of the game installed (as is mandatory) on the internal SSD
  
• XBOX and game are fully up to date
  
• To eliminate any ventilation issues and overheating potential, the XBOX was moved into a completely open area without an obstructions within 1+ feet around it.
  
• As suggested by 2K support, the XBOX was plugged in directly into an outlet instead of a power strip
  
• As suggested by 2K support, I disabled the XBOX automatically turning it self off after a certain period of inactivity
  

There is a known issue with NBA 2K22 crashing noted on the Microsoft September games launches website, but the issue document there is different and is related to crashes to the dashboard or not being able to select something in the menus within the game.

The console does not crash with other next gen games, notably MS Flight Simulator, which puts a lot of thermal strain on the console also.

A support case with 2K blames the XBOX and does not acknowledge whether or not they are working on a fix.

Several other games seem to have exhibited a similar signature of sudden shutoffs, specifically CoD and Madden 22, though I do not own either game and only found this doing research.

I am not keen on doing a factory reset as I'd have to re-download nearly 800 GB of games installed, but would be willing to give this a try and after that I suppose send the console in for repair, which is of course incredibly frustrating.

Any other tips and/or are any other NBA 2K22 next gen users facing this same issue? I see several other users reporting the same issue on Reddit, but it's of course difficult to gauge what amount of the user base that ultimately represents.
