Xbox Series X frequently disconnects from Wi-Fi while gaming

Since you've already tried restarting your router and console, here are some additional troubleshooting steps and solutions to help stabilize the connection:

Check Your Wi-Fi Signal Strength

• Signal Interference: Make sure your Xbox Series X is within range of the Wi-Fi router. If the signal is weak or there’s a lot of interference (walls, metal objects, or other electronics), this can cause disconnections.
  

• Move the Console: Try moving your console closer to the router or eliminate obstacles between them.
  

• Test Wi-Fi Speed: Use a Wi-Fi speed test on your Xbox (go to Settings > General > Network settings > Test network connection) to see if the speed is consistent or if there’s a drop when gaming.
  

Switch to a Wired Connection (Ethernet)

If possible, connect your Xbox Series X directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. Wired connections are much more stable and can help bypass issues with Wi-Fi signal strength or interference.

Change Your Wi-Fi Frequency Band (2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz)

• 5 GHz Band: If your router supports dual-band Wi-Fi, switching to the 5 GHz band (if you’re currently on 2.4 GHz) can provide a faster, more stable connection with less interference from other devices.
  

• 2.4 GHz Band: On the other hand, if there’s a lot of interference or you’re far from the router, switching to the 2.4 GHz band can sometimes improve range, though it might be slower.
  

Update Your Xbox and Router Firmware

My controller disconnects once in a while and wasn't sure if it was just my device. I also get a bit of lag perhaps because of poor Wi-Fi signal. Maybe this will be fixed as they progress x cloud along.

None of these options worked, and my Xbox series x does connect to the Wi-Fi, I have a good connection. What’s next ?
