Xbox series X disconnects from Wi-Fi every time i shut it off.

Hello Eaton, I don't know what kind of modem/router you have and how far it is from your Xbox, but modems/routers usually have two frequencies, 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz.

If you have access to your equipment's settings, try to verify that both frequencies are active on your equipment.

By definition, they also come with the channel set to automatic for each frequency, but they can be changed to manual to see which one best suits your equipment.

Update: Same issue today, decided to stay offline today, disconnected from my wi-fi, turned off online mode, controller does not disconnect but 'freezes' every few minutes or so from 10-30 seconds with whatever the current button input was. Not sure if it's
related to the wi-fi/controller disconnect issue.

If that worked would that prove that the Wi-Fi receiver in the Xbox is at fault ?

As my Xbox series x and Xbox one connect and play perfectly online via the same Wi-Fi

I have two or three options, all of which require more than should be necessary:

1) Subscribe to XBLA Gold;

2) Disconnect XBox 360 from wi-fi network;

Never reconnect XBox 360 to XBLA again because some XBox Administrator thinks that re-entering my Wi-fi key every time I want to connect it is not a PITA;

Considering the tweets posted by Orith and now your attitude, I'm beginning to think Microsoft deliberately wants to peeve off their customers.

This sounds like the OS update step between Verifying and Applying a System update.

If its a Xbox 1 X or earlier this flashing will last about 12 -15 times and then the console will restart and Apply the update.

If the console is a Series X/S the flashing lasts about 5 times before it Applies the update.
