1. Xbox Series X , converting hdmi 2.1 to Display port 1.4

    HI.

Does the Xbox series X work on monitors that only support high refresh rates on Display port by converting HDMI 2.1 to DP 1.4 or is there an alternative solution as the console does not have a display port out put ?

I would like to play multiplayer games on my monitor and normal games on my 4K TV.

    :)

    Hi,

Highly, highly unlikely. To support Display Port would require a new motherboard design. In any case, HDMI 2.1 is 48Gb/s whereas DP 1.4 is 32Gb/s. Clearly HDMI 2.1 wins out here. The newer version of Display Port (2.0) is far too overkill for the Series X.

Not to mention that there are lots of monitors and TV's now that support HDMI 2.1.

    Hi,

As far as I'm aware there are no HDMI 2.1 to DP 1.4 converters, HDMI 2.0 to DP 1.4 doesn't exist either. Also, you can't just do this kind of thing with any cable. The adaptor has to be 'Active' (i.e. powered). Plus, it has to be the right direction. The
cable must be HDMI to Display Port. A DP to HDMI won't work. They are not bi-directional. I'm no expert on these things, but I understand the basics.

You'll find a lot if not most monitors are locked to 1080p when it comes 120Hz support. And since they are are HDMI 1.4, you probably won't be getting high refresh rates.

All true. I wonder whether the OP owns a monitor that is HDMI restricted? A lot of monitors currently will not go over 100fps/Hz using HDMI (even if the HDMI can handle it) and will only go higher if plugged into a DP connection

The Xbox One X is the only console that has HDMI 2.1. Xbox One S has HDMI 2.0.
The Xbox One S and One X both use HDMI 2.0,

The Xbox One uses HDMI 1.4

The Series X will have HDMI 2.1.

So o can connect the hdmi 2.1 to a regular 4 k 2.0 hdmi port but I will not get the full experience or
there will be like some xbox series xs that have different cables.
No, The Xbox Series X has a HDMI 2.1 port therefore it will always ship with a HDMI 2.1 cable,

Yes, you can connect a HDMI 2.1 cable to a HDMI 2.0 port on your TV, you'll just be limited to 4K at 60hz, which is no different to what it like to play on the Xbox One X right now,

Xbox Console HDMI PortHDMI CableTV HDMI Port

Xbox One X, HDMI 2.0HDMI 2.0HDMI 2.0 = 4K at 60hz

Xbox One X, HDMI 2.0HDMI 2.0HDMI 1.4 = 4K at 24hz to 30hz

As long as you have HDMI 2.0 port on your TV you'll be fine to use the Xbox Series X, but if your wanting to experience 4K at 120hz, you'll need a TV or Gaming monitor that has HDMI 2.1 ports.
