Xbox Series X, Controllers randomly disconnecting for a few seconds

Hi everybody,

So I can be happily playing a game then randomly my controller will disconnect, the Xbox button will flash then about 10 seconds later it will reconnect like nothing has happened.

Again this can happen randomly, it might happen once a week, or everyday.
This issue is not just on one controller, I have had this with multiple controllers, including my brand new Elite Series 2.

I have tried Many different fixes and it still persists:
- New batteries

- Resetting the console

- Power cycling console

- Updating console

- Updating controller

- Resetting controller

- Resyncing

- Making sure I'm not to far away
- Reducing Bluetooth noise in the room

I have read in one article, having your router broadcasting on multiple bandwidths that includes the 2.4GHz could actually be the culprit, would their be any validity to this?

Setup:
Xbox Series X (up to date)

Elite Series 2 Controller (up to date)

Turtle beach headset adaptor

6-7 feet between Xbox and controller

2 controllers, maximum, active at the same time

3, maximum, bluetooth able devices nearby (phones and ipad)

2 feet between Xbox and router

Hi Kyle,

My Xbox is hardwired via Ethernet cable.
I will try disabling the 2.4GHz bandwidth and I will post results here either way after a suitable test period.

Good morning Kyle

So I couldn’t disable the 2.4GHz bandwidth as I have devices that only connect to this bandwidth.

However this bandwidth was originally set to “smart” so it would hop between channels when needed.

I changed this setting and locked the routers 2.4GHz bandwidth to a single channel to try and minimise disruption to the Xbox controller.

For roughly 3 weeks this made there was a noticeable difference, the controller/xbox connection was strong with no disconnections.

However this week the issue has re-emerged, playing a game and the controller will randomly disconnect from the Xbox, it will flash roughly 3 times then automatically reconnect.

Speaking with friends from across Europe and the US, I have explained this issue and it appears most of them have suffered the same issue.

All have an Xbox Series X with official Xbox controllers, 1 even connected his controller to the console via a cable, yet this still occurs.

Also, a few of us had signed up for Xbox insider, to see if updating to the Omega build would solve this issue, with no positive results.

At this point I can only conclude this must be an issue somewhere within the Xbox Series X, as this is the common factor.

Hi AngelicLonewolf. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

Xbox Wireless uses a 2.4GHz wireless band, controllers do not connect to consoles with Bluetooth. So 2.4GHz WiFi networks can cause interference. Is your Xbox connected via WiFi or Ethernet?

If possible try disabling the 2.4GHz on your WiFi router temporarily, see if the issue persists. For guidance on doing this please contact your internet provider or router manufacturer.
