    Xbox Series X controller only works while wired.


    My Xbox Series X controller can no longer hook up to any device using bluetooth.

    When unplugged the controller will not even try to turn on, holding the Xbox Button makes it flash very quickly about every half a second but the second I let go it just goes off.

    Holding the sync button on back makes it flash in slightly longer intervals but it still goes off when I stop holding it and it is never actually discoverable.

    Furthermore there seems to be no way at all to manually update or backtrack the firmware to try to just reset it and start from scratch.

    I can't seem to even find any others with a controller acting like this. Any help would be awesome as this controller isn't even a month old and I can't afford a new one for the foreseeable future.

    I understand you about the xbox license.

    I rather not want to have a wireless headset because I dont like charging and the battery life will decrease over time. So that leave me with two options:
    1. Wired, 3.5mm into the Xbox series x controller
    2. Wired, usb, into the Xbox series X

    I checked the microsoft store and there are only 2 compatible series X headsets. Both wireles.

    Do you know any wired Xbox series X headset? That is compatible with the series x? I prefer USB but have to go 3.5mm otherwise.

    Geri, I'm not sure if you still are receiving this thread but I did get my replacement Xbox controller today and I hooked it up to my series X and everything worked fine except that there is no sound coming through my wired headphones. These are Arctis Prime Steel Series wired headphones that worked fine with all my other controllers and just recently with my Xbox series X controller but when I connected to the Elite control they sent me it does there's no sound coming through. I cleaned the port a harder rebooted my Xbox Series X I updated the firmware and still no results.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Did your controller ever work before, or are you just trying to get it to work now?

    The drivers for the Xbox 360 are not available for download independently anymore, and there is no reason for them to be, as Xbox 360 controllers have been natively supported by Windows since Windows Vista. The drivers can't be downloaded because they are already part of the Windows Operating System.

    Is your controller wired or wireless?

    Unlike Xbox One or Series X|S controllers, Xbox 360 wireless controllers are always wireless. If you've attempted to connect a Wireless Xbox 360 controller to your laptop with the Play and Charge cable, it won't work. This is because the Play and Charge does not send data. It will just flash. Xbox 360 wireless controllers need an Xbox 360 gaming receiver.

    Only Xbox One or newer Series X|S controllers can be both wired and wireless.

    Hi. The controller I have is "PowerA Enhanced Wired Controller for Xbox Series X|S". There is a section for PowerA in verified controllers. It use to work for me just fine for over a year. I am not sure why suddenly it is not working. Any ideas?
