Xbox Series X controller disconnects randomly during gameplay

? no this is during gameplay i will be using the controller and it randomly disconnects...

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Xbox controller. Does this happen whenever you're connected through USB cable or just when connected wirelessly through Bluetooth? Do you have a different controller to test and compare so we can see if the issue is coming from your console or directly from the controller?

As part of our initial troubleshooting, please power cycle your controller: Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds until the controller turns off. Wait a few seconds, and then press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on.

I can imagine how impactful it could be getting disconnected during game play. Before looking into a replacement, try testing your controller on a different device. Connect it to another PC or an Xbox console to see if it disconnects randomly.

Try a different controller if it behaves the same too. If the other controller works fine without experiencing the same issue, it’s likely the problem lies with your original controller

If the issue continues with a different controller, it could be related to Bluetooth interference. Try disconnecting any other devices plugged into the console, such as a third-party headset or an external hard drive, to see if that helps.

Don't forget to also check your console's update.

I'm sorry to hear about this issue. Have you tried connecting your controller using a USB wired connection to see if the problem persists? Additionally, have you tested a different controller to check if the same issue occurs?

In the meantime, I recommend trying the steps below. These are the same steps I follow whenever I experience random disconnections with my controller.

Step 1: Power Drain (CONTROLLER)

1. Remove the batteries on your controller even if it's turned on

2. Press and hold the Xbox button for 10 seconds. This will 1 the remaining power.

3. Wait 2 minutes.

4. Insert the batteries back into the controller

Step 2: Power Drain (XBOX)

1. Make sure that your console is turned on then unplug the power cable at the back to turn it off.

2. Press the power button for about 15 seconds even though it's already off. (This will remove the remaining power on your Xbox)

3. Wait for 2 minutes and plug the power cable

4. Turn on console and wait for the dashboard to appear

5. Turn on controller then test

Usually that is caused by 1 of 3 things: -

1. An issue with the Wi-Fi card in the console, which also handles wireless controller connections. If it happens with every controller you try, but it doesn't happen when you use a wired connection, it's possibly that.

2. An issue with the controller. If you have a friend with an Xbox, borrow 1 or more of their controllers and try it/them to see if the issue occurs with those too. Also, get them to try your controller on their console.

3. An issue with interference. That can be caused by other devices operating on the same Wi-Fi band(s), or by large metal objects such as shelves or doors.
