Xbox Series X Controller disconnects in games when using 120fps mode

Hello, I've had a really frustrating problem with my new Xbox Series Controller for a while now and it's becoming a bigger problem recently with the launch of Overwatch 2.

I've seen many times when using 120 FPS mode (in supported games) + a wireless Series Controller with a headset plugged into the controller through the 3.5mm jack that certain games will cause the controller to become unresponsive, forcing you to pull the batteries out and put them back in, only for it to happen again shortly after.

I've had this problem in other games such as Plague Tale, DMC5, COD: Cold War and Battlefield V with 120hz mode enabled.

And from looking at the Blizzard forums, I'm clearly not the only one dealing with this problem.

Same thing is happening to me in several games using 120fps modes. Overwatch 2, Godfall, Halo Infinite. I suddenly lose control of the game, my party can’t hear me but the Xbox light on the controller is solid. I thought maybe it was switching to blutooth on my iPad but that wasn’t the case

This is happening to me too with Overwatch 2 on high framerate mode. Pretty ridiculous. The controller does not issues in balanced mode.

I also had this issue but it was far worse with Resident Evil 2 and 3's high framerate mode.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

To fix this, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

If that didn't work resetting the console keeping games and apps will be the next option. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps.

Rainbow Six Siege Series X|S update lets you have performance mode and a resolution mode. The performance mode on the Series S only gives you a 1080p up to 120FPS. The resolution mode gives you 1728p at 60 FPS. The game does not show in 4K, hence why the graphics look pretty much the same as the Xbox One.

Connecting the controller with a USB cable doesn't work,

Controller still disconnects even with a USB cable connected,

I have the same issue with Series X using mouse and keyboard for Call of Duty Vanguard.

I played during the beta and there was no problems with the controller disconnecting but as soon as the game released, the controller disconnects,

I've tried a Xbox One controller Series X controller, with batteries and a USB cable, and the controllers still disconnects.
