Xbox Series X Controller "crashes" during Gears 5 map change

I'm having a really weird problem with my Xbox Series X, since I received it back from repair. Initially I sent it in because the fan started to sound really bad and I got the same console back with a new fan.

That's when I noticed a new problem. When playing Gears 5 online and there is a map change, my controller will "crash" and not respond anymore. I then have to pull out the battery and put it back in. Works until the next map change.

Then I started to experiment a little bit by using different controllers, etc. The problems occurs on new controllers with Bluetooth built in. Old controllers without Bluetooth won't "crash". And a chat headset has to be attached as well for the "crash" to happen. If I'm playing without the chat headset the Bluetooth controllers work just fine. I thought that it might be a problem with Gears and reinstalled it, but the problem still persists.

Also disconnected and reconnected my controllers with the Xbox but the problem is still there. I don't know what I should do?

    To summarize my problem:

    - it has to be a Bluetooth controller

    - a chat headset needs to be connected

    - Gears 5 online map change triggers the "crash" of the controller

I hope someone can help me resolve this problem. Don't want to play Gears 5 with old controllers, as the new one is fantastic. It worked fine before my Xbox was sent in for the fan repair.

    :)

Another option could be downgrade your controller firmware in case you're on the latest version :

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/...

But if the issue persists, I can advise you couple things more:

    1. Try waiting for a new Xbox system update in case there's an issue with the latest one (according to "what's new" page, probably a new update is going to be available on July 6)
    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-ne...

    2. Send this feedback to Xbox team and developers, in case Gears received a new game update and it's causing the issue with the newer controllers:
    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/account-pro...

    3. If you are able to test the game on another console with the same controller and works fine, request a new repair order for you console in case there's an issue with the actual controller connection module

    Please perform the factory reset.

If maybe the issue persists, try instead performing an offline update for your console. In that way Xbox system will be updated from scratch.

For this you need a USB and PC to format it and transfer files provided in the link below (with steps):

The factory reset and offline update both didn't solve my problem.

It absolutely doesn't make any sense to me, as it only happens with Gears 5. But then, Gears 5 is the title I play the most on my Xbox, so it sure is killing the fun a lot.

PS: My Xbox also stopped beeping when turned on or off.

Hey Josef, thanks for your help.

Using the controller wired seems to work, even after I unplug it. But after I restart the console the problem returns.

Starting the console with a wired controller and unplugging it, fixes it for as long as the console stays on.

Guess I'll factory reset the console and try it again.

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today Panchamolo

Did you tried replicating the issue in another games?
If you connect the controller wired, the issue appears again or are you able to play properly?

Did you tried power cycling your console or factory reset it but keeping games and apps to see if the issue persists

I'll be waiting for your reply, greetings from another Microsoft user!
