    Hi,

    The fan produces constant noise in low power mode. It is a humming/buzzing tone. Not very loud but you can definitely hear it in a silent room. I've tried to record it: Klick (Please
    use headphones if possible)

    It is a bit annoying when the room is basically silent and you are reading a book or what not.

    As I read in some tests that the XSX is super silent and even microphones were not able to pick up some noise I would like to know if this is faulty behavior?

    The reason your Power Brick is making a humming noise, is because inside of the power brick. Is a little fan, this fan keeps your Power Brick at the correct temperature. If your power brick gets hot, the fans RPM will increase and it will make a humming
    sound because your XBOX Power Brick Fan is cooling down your Power Brick. Nothing to worry about unless it's a roaring sound.

    A clicking noise would be either A) the fan off balance at low RPM or B) the HDD. The HDD would only make noise while seeking though so probably your fan if it's constant.

    Is it a loud 'tone'? Is it annoying?

    It's unlikely to be coil whine as that typically only occurs when a system is being pushed, not when it's on a low power mode.

    Coil whine isn't related to system fans, the whining noise comes from power passing through a transformer or conductor.

    I'd imagine the noises it would normally make are probably a hum from the fan or coil whine (maybe).

    I've had 4 PSUs so far: -



    1 - Made a constant ticking noise that was audible at all times.

    2 - Same as 1.

    3 - No ticking, but made a loud buzzing noise constantly that was audible at all times.

    4 - Makes a quiet hum that is not audible over ambient noise in a quiet room.



    I consider 4 to be normal as you'll never get a truly silent PSU as there's a fan that runs 24/7 unless you use the power saving mode. There is certainly a lot of variance with these PSUs though and obviously placement, size of room, which room the Xbox
    One is in etc. will all make a difference to people's perception of the noise. Hopefully MS can tighten up on QC so that everyone gets a PSU that's like my 4th one.
