Xbox Series X console shuts down when I try to play any game

Hello Tim, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

I take it your console is an Xbox Series X as the game will not run on the Xbox One X. However, if you are using a Series X please try powercycling it by holding the power button on the console for 10 seconds till it shuts down then unplug it for 5 minutes. During this time unplug the modem/router for at least 60 seconds to clear any possible issues there.

When the internet is back up and running try again.

I have the same issue

Nba 2k22 next gen on X series, if only i go to any online activity mode, like 5v5 Rec, console just shutting down. Offline modes i could play 24/7 no problems

When i called Microsoft, wanna know what they told me ??

"It is very weird, make sure you got proper ventilation and plugged in directly"

Really pushing me hard for a switch to PS5 ehh, they don`t shut down in 2k22, they also got their issues, but you can play at least, their consoles don`t shut down.

I mean this issue with Series X shutting down is beyond imagining, just unreal. Tons tons of reports on internet on various forums, X series users reporting it from some time now, did not see any PS5 shutting down user reporting it, just other minor bugs.

Since the Xbox Series X is said to be able to play Xbox games from all previous generations (i.e. the original Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One), they probably won't shut down the servers for Xbox One in the foreseeable future.

It would not make sense to put work into making Xbox One games run on the new Series X (which is a major selling point, as Backwards Compatibility was the No.1 requested feature after Xbox One was launched without it), and then discontinue Xbox One support.

So rest assured: You can continue to play your games on your Xbox One, even after the Series X is released.

However, game publishers might still discontinue support for older games and the server infrastructure. EA is well known for shutting down the servers for their older games for example.

And with Minecraft being very popular among families and children, which often use the "handed down" older consoles, they wouldn't want to lose the market by making it impossible for kids to play older versions of Minecraft by shutting down servers.

By the way: unless you play on Realms (i.e. Bedrock), there are no servers to shut down. All worlds are hosted on your own device, and use the standard Matchmaking for multiplayer. So you can continue to play your Legacy Console Minecraft until your console
dies and you can't get spare Xbox One consoles anymore.

Just white usually a game will crash, light blinks series x games seem to struggle to play. And sometimes they'll freeze and shut the console down. No error messages though
