    I'm planning on buying an defective xbox series x console from ebay but the seller is not specific as to what the issue is. However, he did show a pictue of the serial number and I want to know if the console has a hardwar ban on it using its serial number.

    I cannot recommend more that you purchase only consoles that are brand new out of the box with a full warranty. You should never purchase defective hardware

    There's no way to check that with the serial number. The only way to know is by turning on the console and connecting it to the service.
