    Xbox Series X Connection/Lagging Out


    Hi all, don’t want to sound like a broken record but I have no idea what to do at all with my new Xbox and I’m looking for any form of advice. So ever since I got the new Xbox I’ve experienced multiple issues, the first and main one which was the Xbox just cutting out whenever it felt like it, which thankfully was solved by doing a full factory reset and has not happened since. The other major issue I have now is that I am losing connection mid game on games such as Call of Duty Cold War, Warzone/Modern Warfare and also Fifa 21 which are all downloaded as the correct X/S versions. I will be mid game and all of a sudden I get a spike of lag, my game either freezes (modern warfare) or comes up with connection interrupted (Cold War) and removes me from the game, stating I have to have an active connection to play multiplayer, however within a matter of seconds I am back on the online servers and Xbox live. Literally within 10/15 seconds start to finish I freeze, disconnected from Xbox live/servers and then I’m back, like nothing has happened. It’s got to the point where I don’t even load call of duty anymore or Fifa and I just play Assassins creed, and even that randomly dashboards occasionally for no reason. My home Internet is fine, I’ve been working from home for 9 months and haven’t occurred a single issue, my router doesn’t glitch out with the Xbox. I had the connection interrupted issue on my old Xbox on Black Ops 3 and couldn’t play the game and I feel like it’s come full circle. I plan to call Microsoft in the coming days but any help, any suggestions would be much appreciated please.

    Xbox Series X audio lag is not just in GAMES

    Based on your description, you are experiencing audio lag issues with your Xbox Series X. As a Microsoft customer support agent, I can assure you that we take all customer feedback seriously and strive to provide the best possible support.

    Regarding your issue, have you tried connecting your soundbar directly to your Xbox Series X instead of through your TV's eARC connection? This may help to eliminate any potential lag caused by the TV.

    Additionally, you may want to try adjusting the audio settings on your Xbox Series X to see if that helps.

    By the way, do you mind testing the audio lag in these setups:

    • Xbox Series X (using HDMI 2.1 connection) - Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV (2022) (QN85B)
    • Xbox Series X (using HDMI 2.1 connection) - Samsung Neo QLED 4K Smart TV (2022) (QN85B) - any headset/headphone compatible with Xbox Console

    Let me know if you experience same audio lag with the above set up. If yes, this could have something to do with the update of Xbox Series X and reporting this concern to the Team Xbox will help as they would replicate and investigate the issue. However, if this issue happens only when using the soundbar you may need to look for settings for the soundbar to produce the audio without lag (delaying) it.

    We have notice that you've done extensive troubleshooting for your audio set up and yet the audio lag persists. You may try the troubleshoot audio steps from this support article: Troubleshoot audio on your Xbox console | Xbox Support. If you already performed this then, consider consulting your soundbar manufacturer for performance specifications.

    XBOX Series X input lag and latency

    I have an LG OLED EVO G1 series TV, LG claims the response time in the game mode is 10ms.

    I also have a PS5 both are connected directly to the TV.

    The Xbox series X input lag is noticeable when compared to the PS5.



    I don’t know if this is still true but Xbox used to have a feature called input lag compensation which basically penalizes you for having a good connection. That may be okay in an Xbox only lobby, but in a cross play forget it.

    My Xbox series s i think it's getting heat and its lagging some times on forza for a few seconds and its lagging on nfs heat but i can press xbox button and get out from the game and it was lagging on apex mabye for 5 second but in cod warzone i don't think its lagging ( wierd connection)

    I am sorry to hear that.

    I think this is due to input lag from the remote play.

    You can try these steps:

    Make sure your Xbox Series X is connected directly to your router or modem via Ethernet cable. This will ensure the best possible connection.

    Check your network settings on your Xbox Series X. Go to Settings > General > Network settings and make sure your NAT type is set to Open. You can also try running the network troubleshooter to see if there are any issues.

    Try adjusting the video quality settings on your Xbox Series X. Go to Settings > Devices & streaming > Remote features > Remote play settings and try lowering the video quality to see if that helps with the input lag.

    Let me know if it works!
