Xbox Series X - Black Screen after the B button on dashboard?

Not sure if it’s a hardware or software issue but if I go into settings menu and back to the dashboard if I navigate around and press B randomly the screen acts as if it’s opening an app but takes me to a black screen.

When I press the home button the side menu always appears and I can navigate back but not sure whats happening and why it acts as if it’s opening something but just get stuck on a black screen to then have to press the guide button and navigate home.

Is this normal or a faulty Xbox?

Hello again, as the TMX app is a third-party app, there may be some conflict, but I'm glad the procedure worked.

Console reset has helped I’m thinking it could be after changing my wallpaper using the TMX app.

All seems fine now so thinking it was that. Also when I try do the same thing that took me to the black screen it now instead takes me to quick resume and goes back to my last game.

Is it normal for the Xbox to sometimes behave like this when using apps in the Microsoft store as I’m in my returns timeframe and worried it will happen again, but it’s been fine for 24 hours now!

Hello Nova1989_XBOX, it's clearly not normal for Xbox to act this way.

Have you tried any procedure on the console, be it a cache wipe or a console reset keeping games and Apps, If you haven't tried it yet, follow the steps below.

Select system > Settings > System > Console Information

Select Reset console.

Restore and maintain my games and apps.

How To Fix Dashboard Issues on the Xbox One
Simultaneously press and hold down the [Left Trigger (LT)] + [Right Trigger (RT)] + [Y] buttons for a couple of seconds, and then release them.

The Dashboard will refresh itself (reload all the elements of the home screen) shortly after releasing the three buttons.

To refresh the home screen, you can simply press on the Xbox button; then highlight home, press on the menu button. Then press on Refresh
