  1. Xbox Series X Audio bug?

So after the last console update I’m experiencing a bug and it’s driving me crazy. Basically what happens is that when I’m using headphones plugged into my controller the Audio sounds wrong. I don’t know the best way to describe it other than it sounds flat like in a recording studio rather than how it should sound. I’ve been through all the troubleshooting, it’s not my controller, it’s not my headphones and I’ve done a factory reset of the console.

Now here’s the interesting part. The audio is fine if I boot up my console and go straight into the Spotify app. And it’s fine for however long I’m in there… however if I quit the app or do anything else before opening the app the audio quality changes. It’s gotta be a bug introduced in the last system update right?

    :)

Xbox Series X - I can no longer turn off hdmi audio since installing the september update

I have almost the same problem except the error message says

“if you’re using Xbox series X/S, note that HDMI audio can’t be turned off. In other consoles, either optical or HDMI audio must be on. (0x80bd0009)

Why can’t I turn off hdmi audio on Xbox series x it makes no sense?

Will XBox Series X support external DAC/Amp hardware via USB?

There are multiple articles stating audio compatibility via USB. If optical is necessary, there are various HDMI to optical devices available which you may need to add.

"Some gaming headsets that utilize an optical cable may require a firmware update to support game and chat audio over USB on Xbox Series X. Soundbars and headsets that do not receive updates may be connected
directly to your televisions optical port."

Trying to get digital assistant to work but screen shows mic is turned off do I need a headset or is there one built in

Unfortunately, there is no built-in mic on the Xbox Series X and no bluetooth support if you're thinking to go that route.

You will need to attach a headset with a mic to the Xbox Series X controller. The Xbox Series X controller uses a standard 2.5mm audio connection for Xbox Live, you can use any standard headset. (It does not have to be something fancy or expensive.)

I hope this helps. Merry Christmas to all!
