  1. XBOX SERIES X - 4K @ 120Hz (+) VRR = BROKEN!

The Xbox Series X was said to deliver Native 4K Gaming @ 120Hz with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), however, day one, corrupt images/no signal on TVs by Samsung, LG, and Vizio. This is completely unacceptable, reason being, this feature was flaunted by Microsoft,
and players purchased new TVs with HDMI 2.1 along with the Xbox Series X to take advantage of all the muscle underneath the hood of the latest and greatest console offering. Others frustrated? Feel the same?

I myself have a Samsung Q90R (2019), which in fact supports HDMI 2.1 via HDMI PORT IV. With 4K/120Hz (+) VRR enabled, certain games will cause the Series X to disengage the video signal going to the panel.

MICROSOFT - Why, Why? The highest video settings should work on day one. I find it hard to believe that this bug was not known about months before release, if not more. When will this be fixed? The fix should be of top priority and pushed out ASAP.

    Sincerely and most respectfully,

    Xbox One X VRR Issue

I had the same issue using a Denon hdmi 2.1 AVR. I solved it using VRR with 120hz, but I have a hdmi 2.1 tv and a Series X, not One X. I guess you are stuck with 4k without vrr or full hd 120 and vrr. Another solution is to connect the Xbox directly to the tv and use arc/earc for audio, but One X does not support 4k 120hz, so you are stuck with full hd 120 if you use vrr.

    4k 120hz issue

    Hi,

Do you have the Xbox One, or the Xbox Series S? You'd be surprised how many people get the names confused.

If it's an Xbox One S, then that console doe not support 120Hz @ 4K. Also, the HDMI out on the Xbox One S is HDMI 2.0, not 2.1. Only the Xbox Series S and Series X support 4K @ 120Hz via the console settings. The One S is only 1080P.

Bear in mind also, that there are no games for the Xbox One S that do 120Hz (or 120 fps). The 120Hz option is only there to support VRR (variable refresh rate).

If you want to play 120Hz supported games, you will need a Series X. The Series S support of 120Hz games is a lot more limited.

Note that on the Qn95a, only HDMI 4 supports HDMI 2.1

Do I Need A Xbox Series X or S To Have 4K Resolution At 120hz?

You will need the Xbox Series X for 4K 120hz. The Series S can only do 1440p 120hz

Will I be able to play on my Series X at 1080p 120fps VRR with this monitor?

it will work fine including vrr, you don't need hdmi 2.0/2.1 for 1080p 120hz vrr.

that monitor is also tested to work with series x and ps5.
