    Hey all

    Monitor:

    Huawei Mateview GT34

    Capable of 165htz

    1x dp, 2x hdmi 2.0 and 1x usbc

    Situation:

I have been struggling to get 144htz at 1440p even though both the monitor and xbox series x should support this. I'm using the stock hdmi cable that comes with the xbox.

    I can only achieve 1440p at 60fps OR 1080p at 144fps.

    AMD freesync is on

Tired both 8bit and 10bit colour

    Tried HDR on and off

    Can someone please help?

    Many thanks in advance.

    :)

Many thanks for your response but I'm afraid you are mistaken. HDMI 2.0 has always supported 1440p at 120hz. Even the article you sent says this.

"The HDMI 2.0 connector was previously featured on Xbox One X and Xbox One S, with bandwidth limitations locking content to 4K resolution at 60Hz, or 1440p at 120Hz"

So my question remains How do I get 1440p at 120Hz on the xbox series X with the huawei mateview gt34 monitor that is capable of supporing this?

Indeed and well said, although unfortunate info for the OP...luckily I basically obsess over any tech gizmo or gadget that I'm interested in and research it and compare to every other model and then some before purchasing, and is the reason I found out about the hdmi 2.1 port necessity for latest display features (when connecting consoles) just recently as I had intended on purchasing a 27 or 32 inch high end gaming monitor initially, but after shopping and realizing that monitors with the specs I desired cost nearly $500 and up, and the fact I was still using an older 1080p lcd tv that was nearly 20 years in age..I decided to get an LG C1 or G1 OLED (whichever model would be available in stock locally in 55in) and had done all my research concerning OLED panels solely in LG's offerings as I remember Sony's prices were quite steep in comparison so never looked into them for that reason alone....LG was all out of stock and luckily had a very informative assistant go over all the best displays (with gaming being important I said) and he sold me on the Sony A80J 55in OLED which was on sale 2 weeks ago when purchased for same price as LG C1 and shares the same panel as LG (mine actually has the latest EVO panel luckily) but is claimed to have superior processor that Sony doesn't share among the only other 2 companies to actually make televisions as any other companies are using the parts from either LG, Sony, or Samsung....I won't try and make any goofy remark as to this model being better in anyway to LG and the debate would be opinion only and pointless, but for the price and performance I'd have to recommend going this route if looking to upgrade monitor or tv since it's best performance for cinema and gaming available at the moment, and is quite affordable especially in comparison to decent pc gaming monitor prices of the mid to upper tier

If you're not able to see the option in display & TV Settings that means is not supported sadly

I seen many players opening similar threads, monitors with HDMI 2.0 port and the answer is always the same
120Hz option is not going to appear if you select 1440p

Going back to the article "To utilize the benefits of HDMI 2.1, both your console and TV must support the specification. While Microsoft has confirmed plans for HDMI 2.1 for Xbox Series X, you'll need a compatible display for the full 4K result, too. But the issue is, there simply aren't many TVs that support HDMI 2.1 — and HDMI 2.1 monitors are essentially non-existent"

For this kind of things there is no workarounds, it's a hardware limitation

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today mate
Your monitor needs a HDMI 2.1 port, sadly any HDMI port version below that is not going to support 1440p 120Hz on Series X

    Xbox Series X - 1440p?

    Hi,

The maximum supported resolution of Series S will be 1440P. Series X just like the Xbox One X before it will support 1440P too.

It will work on your monitor, don't worry.
