    XBOX SERIES S — XBOX 360 connection/profile error


    Hello! I recently got an Xbox Series S and have been attempting to play Fallout: New Vegas on it via backwards compatibility, however an issue has been coming up preventing me from this.

    I have not had an Xbox 360 account before, as I am a bit of a younger soul who only played on my dad's account on occasion to play Minecraft back in the day.

    When I try to download a profile, I am hit with an error screen that tells me to check my connection — and my connection has been tested and is completely fine; stellar, even.

    I have seen people discuss this but nothing has worked. I have cleared local Xbox 360 data and have factory reset, all to no avail. I'm thusly a little lost and would appreciate any help.

    I am sorry to hear that.

    This has been affecting more users, there is no official confirmation about what is causing it.

    On another topic, a player successfully fixed the issue by changing the Port Selection on the connection settings, from automatic to manual.

    Go to Profile and System > Settings > General > Network Settings > Advanced Settings> Alternate Port Selection > Choose any from the Menu starting with a 4 or 5 (Example: 49215 or 57165).

    If I find a new fix or have new information, I will post it.

    No, it's not possible to use an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S controller on an Xbox 360 even connected with a wire.

    The Xbox 360 cannot connect to the Xbox app, only the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles can do that.
