Xbox series S started to crash

Yesterday my series S started freezing in games, but audio would still continue, then it would return me to the Home Screen.

I moved my Xbox from the lounge to the studio, the only thing that changed was in the studio it was in the vertical position. There was plenty of ventilation.

Resident evil 7 has crashed 3 times today, losing progress has been frustrating.

Is this a software error, or is there a known issue with the Series S as I am still in warranty, should I return it to the shop or contact Microsoft for repair or replacement?

It crashes on me no matter what console I'm on I'm so sick of app crashing on me every 30 minutes i use xbox series s series x and pc and still does same thing app crashes and I have to start it back up

I tried a power cycle, I left it off as well by turning off and unplugging from the mains, and today I managed to finish the game without a crash. I also moved it back to the lounge in the horizontal position.

I hope this lasts as I don't want it to be a hardware issue, I still am in the warranty period so if it keeps happening I will get another but this seems to have worked.

Hi Konaniswarrior, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

There is currently no known issue with the Xbox Series S which means that we just need to perform troubleshooting steps before getting the console repaired if none of the steps worked.

To fix this, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

If that didn't work resetting the console keeping games and apps will be the next option. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps.
