  1. xbox series s lag problems or just the TV its hooked up to?

I have had my Xbox series S for only 3 days and have played it for around 14 hours everyday since then. After hooking it up to my tv (4K QLED capable of 60hz) I have noticed lag problems, like transitioning to menus is laggy, and getting back into games after looking at a games official club, or even just launching a game. Twice already, while going from a game into games and apps or a looking for group forum, there have been these little blue pixels at the top of my screen. I also had one instance of insane stick drift, I was looking to the right, let go of the right joy stick, and the game I was playing (DayZ) kept panning to the right like I had the joystick all the way over in that direction, however just moving the joystick again fixed that problem. My power options also just popped up for no reason, but I'm pretty sure I held the xbox button awhile before that but i can't remember, but even if I did, that would've been one heck of a delay from the time I held the button to when the power options actually showed up. Is this just the tv I have it hooked up to? Or does my Xbox have a problem just THREE days after getting it?

    :)

xbox series s lag problems or just the TV its hooked up to?

Hello John, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

First I'll advice you turn off 4K and see if that resolves the issue. If it does then it's the TV. The TV's display resolution and the console output are not in sync. You'll need to go into the display settings of the TV and play around with it a bit, you'll sure figure it out.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

    Jesse.

    Lag and stutter issues

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing lag and frame rate issues on your Xbox Series S. Here are some possible solutions you could try:

Switch to a different graphics mode: Next-generation games typically offer two graphics modes: one for a higher resolution and one for a higher frame rate. Try switching to another graphics mode and see if that helps.

Restart the Xbox Series S: As with most electronic devices, a simple restart may be the easiest solution; restart the console to see if that helps.

Make sure the Xbox Series S is adequately cooled: Both Xbox Series X and Series S consoles use fans to keep the consoles cool. A hot console may underperform, so you need to make sure there are no heat issues.

Free up space on the Xbox Series S SSD: SSDs perform best when there is 10-20% free space as a general rule. If the Xbox Series S SSD is too full, it might be a good idea to uninstall some games.

Check your monitor or TV: A possible FPS drop and lag issue on the Xbox Series X|S might not involve the console at all. If you see low FPS with all games, the problem could be with your TV; Connect the console to another TV or monitor and see if the problem persists.

Check if the FPS loss and lag on the Xbox Series X|S occurs with other games: Not all games are programmed the same. If the problem occurs with only one game, it could be due to one or more problems with that game.

Xbox One S, Vizio M55-D0, 4K UHD HDR Problems! (Black Screen, Snowy Screen)

I have an Xbox One S hooked up to the HDMI 1 on my M70-D3. And while it's great, there are black outs periodically.

This only happens with the Xbox and only when hooked up to the M70-D3. I tried other sources on the TV, HD antenna, Apple TV (4th Gen), and using Cast, there was no issue with those sources.

I hooked my Xbox to a M70-C3 (2015) and there was no issue on that TV.

So, there seems to be an issue between the Xbox One S and specifically the M series Dx (2016 HDR Vizio TVs), I have the latest firmware on both devices.

How to connect xbox series s for the first time without a tv?

The HDMI port on your laptop is likely only an HDMI out, so that you can hook it up to an external TV/monitor and output its display to that.

In order to display the Series S's output on your laptop's screen, it would have to have an HDMI in port.

What's the make/model of the laptop?

Series S bad HDR on a 4K TV

Sorry for the late reply. I have my Series S hooked up to my Fire TV in the bedroom and my X hooked up to a TCL S4 series in the living room. Neither one is idea for HDR content. At least not with the Xboxes. I tried my hand with an high end LG TV to see what HDR would look like and while some games looked better than others it was still a mixed bag. Some games will just look awful with HDR on regardless of what TV your playing off of. I really would like to do tests with a PS5 to see if I get similar results.
