[Xbox Series S] Horrible Stutter on Certain Games (After Plugging In Old Hard Drive?)

    Hi,

I bought my Series S at the start of March and played without issues for a time. I needed some more space for Xbox One/360 games so I plugged in my (Seagate 1TB) hard drive from my Xbox One. This already had games (and presumably saves?) stored on it when I plugged it in, and it seemed to connect fine, I just deleted the duplicate entries where I'd already installed a game on the S.

The issue now is that certain games (presumably ones I opened while the hard drive was plugged in, even after clearing duplicates) now stutter horribly when trying to play, namely Subnautica and Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection. These games are now effectively unplayable for me.

I have unplugged the hard drive, cleared save data on the console and cloud, hard reset, and finally factory reset the console and reinstalled the games but no dice, I'm not sure what I can do to fix this.

    Thanks in advance

    :)

[Xbox Series S] Horrible Stutter on Certain Games (After Plugging In Old Hard Drive?)

Hi, thank you for your reply

I have tried all of these already bar the blu-ray option, which I can't access as I'm on a Series S.

    So far I have tried:

    - Disconnecting the hard drive I suspected to have been the issue

    - Clearing all save data (local and cloud, so I can't resync save data as it does not exist for Subnautica)

    - Removing my account followed by a hard reset and unplugging

    - Several other hard resets and unplugging the console

    - Factory resetting my console

    Thank you for your help

Hello Zrex 5000, I hope everything is going well!

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Xbox Forum support!

I highly recommend following the troubleshooting steps here:

After each step try to see if the issue is fixed!

First, please select System > Settings > account > remove accounts and then select your account and select Remove to confirm.

Then, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, until the console shuts off, then unplug the power cord and wait for 2-3 minutes before plugging it back in and turn on the Xbox.

If the issue persists, please select System > Settings > devices and streaming > blue ray > persistent storage > clear three times > restart console.

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps.

If you are still having the same issue, it’s possible that the local save for the game has become corrupted. If so, deleting the local save and re-syncing with the cloud might correct the problem.
    First, delete the local save:
    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide and then select My games & apps > See all > Games.
    2. Highlight the game title, and then press the Menu button on your controller.
    3. Select Manage game and add-ons > Saved data.
    4. Select Delete all to remove the local save of this game, then follow the prompts.
After you delete the local save, restart your Xbox:
    1. Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your controller.
    2. Select Restart console, then follow the prompts.
After you restart your Xbox, re-sync your saved games to the cloud. Your saved games are automatically stored in the cloud while you’re connected to Xbox Live.
Try playing the game again to see if re-syncing with the cloud corrected the game problem.

I wish you a lovely day, and I hope this helps you out!

    Kind Regards

    Stay safe, and happy gaming!

Series S wont recognize installed games

I installed them on my old xbox one and transferred them to the external hard drive so I know they are on the hard drive

All my installed games appear correctly as installed on my Xbox one if I connect the hard drive to it. But when I connect the hard drive to my Series S, most of the installed games appear but about 9 of them do not. The missing games appear as ready to install on my Series S

    External Drive storage

Then yeah, you can plug it into the new console and use it like that or transfer from the hard drive. Any games that are optimized for the Series S/X will not run from that drive, but you can store them on it. So you may have some games that will have to be moved to the internal drive on the Series S.

    Copy games/savegames to Series S

Any game you bought digitally will be playable day one, along with your game saves as they save to the Cloud, when you load up your games on your new Xbox Series S, your save data should sync and be available to you straight away.

As for the disks you own, yes unfortunately you will have to repurchase them and own them digitally on the Series S. (Although some good news, from the time posting this reply Assassin's Creed Odyssey is on sale for $14.99 as opposed to its original $59.99
price mark, only 3 days remaining on this current sale)

For the external hard drive, you can transfer all your digital games to the hard drive and use it on your Xbox Series S.

One thing I personally cannot say for certain is if those games loading from the external hard drive will run the same way they would if they were installed straight onto the console, but regardless you can save yourself time when your Xbox Series S shows
up & load up your old games using your external hard drive with all your save progress.
