Xbox Series S - Failed to Join:Could not find Sessio

I’m trying to play Astroneer with a friend.

We both have Xbox Series S. We have checked the NAT servers and tested the Online play with friends settings and those all say open and okay to play with friends.

At this point, I don’t know what else to try. The only thing that is slightly different is my friend bought the game, and we are playing on Gamepass.

We can join Parties together on XBox, but can’t join games.

Your help would be appreciated

Thanks for that info. So it's not specific to a game since it also happens to Minecraft. It's possible that the issue is with your friend's network connection. Could he try to use a different network connection like mobile data hotspot to further isolate the issue? You could also try it on your end.

If you use your home network, try switching the connection from your old console to your new one.

At home, if we are on the old Xbox and the new Xbox we can join each other’s games just fine. (Same house, one through router, open NAT and one through gateway ,Double NAT) But when it’s a friend, we can join parties, but not games yet. The only other one we tried was Minecraft. He sent an invite and it didn’t come through.

Does the issue happen to Astroneer game only? How about your other games, are you able to play multiplayer in other games?

I have this exact issue but could not find anyone else with the same. It is happening to me on the xbox series s.
