    Xbox series S display settings?

    I recently started messing with display settings. In the “video fidelity and overscan” should I change that to “hdmi” or keep it on “auto”?. My monitor is capable of 144hz but I get “out of range” when I try 120hz. I’m assuming that’s cause of my hdmi cord so I ordered one. But in the mean time I’m wondering if I will get better display/ fps by switching from auto detect to hdmi. Also I noticed when using the hdmi setting my headset sounded different? Not sure if that’s normal. Thanks in Advance

    :)

    Hello, the monitor I use is the asus vg248qe and the system is an Xbox series s.
    It's an HDMI 1.4 display from 2013. Generally, HDMI 1.4 is limited to a maximum refresh of 60Hz (see below circled in red). The high refresh rates for this monitor (circled in blue) relate to the Display port only.

    That monitor is quite old. High refresh rates over HDMI were not a thing back then as anyone buying this display would have been purchasing it for PC gaming. This is why you can't use 120Hz on your series S. The settings on the monitor will not help I'm afraid.

    Hi,

    Need some information here. What is the exact make and model of the monitor? Which console do you have? Original Xbox One, One S, One X, Series S or Series X?

    The Xbox Series S/X only has a HDMI socket for display, so it will only support that display option. As for 720p or 1080p, it should support 1080p, but 720p is anyone's guess, as Microsoft haven't stated if it supports 720p or not.

    I'm sorry to hear that. Kindly try these;

    1. Make sure that your TV or monitor supports 120hz. Not all displays support this refresh rate, so it's important to check first.

    2. Make sure that you are using a high-speed HDMI cable that supports 120hz. A standard HDMI cable may not be able to handle the increased bandwidth required for this refresh rate.

    3. Check your Xbox Series S settings. Make sure that your console is set to output at 120hz. You can do this by going to Settings > General > TV & display options > Video modes.

    4. Try restarting your Xbox Series S and your display. Sometimes, a simple restart can fix issues like this.

    5. If none of the above steps work, there may be an issue with your Xbox Series S or your display.
