Xbox Series S crashing often

I am asking this question on behalf of someone.

They have recently purchased an xbox series S and a few games have crashed multiple times while we have been playing online. These being; F1 2021, The Ascent and The Division 2.

The screen just goes black with a funny noise and they are returned to the dashboard. I do not believe this is a network issue and I think something is wrong with the software. Is this console just to weak to play games? However I doubt that is the case.

We played all afternoon on the division and it was fine and now this evening they can't stay in the session for longer than 5 minutes.

Has anyone else had these kind of issues?

On my Series S its crashing too. Often when cruising thru the world.

Hi again,

I am also trying to unlink the previous Xbox from my account but It won't let me remove it. It just says "Something happened, try again in a bit".

Since the issue persisted, please try:

First, uninstall one of the games that is crashing.

After uninstalling:
Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

Note: the "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not make you lose your games, but you will need to sign in to the account again.

Press the Xbox Button > Settings > System Settings > Storage.
Highlight but don't select a storage device, and then press Y on your controller for Device Options.
On the Device Options screen, select Clear System Cache.
When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.

Install the game again and see if the problem persists. Also, just to test, can you play offline or single player just fine or single player also gives the crashing?

Yeah this should not happen at all. Let's try first to remove your account, power cycle your Xbox and then add your account again:

Remove Account:
1. Press the Xbox button.
2. Select System > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.
3. Select the account that you want to remove, and then Remove.
4. Close.

Power Reset:
1. If you have an external HD, please unplug it and let it unplugged for testing purposes.
2. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.
3. Unplug all the cables (power, HDMI, etc..) and wait 5 minutes.
4. After 5 minutes, plug all the cables in again (except for the external HD) and then turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console.

Add Account:
1. Press the Xbox button.
2. Select your gamerpic in the upper-left corner of the screen, move all the way down and select Add new.
3. Enter the Email Address and the Password.
4. Read the Microsoft Service Agreement and Privacy Statement, and then select I Accept.
5. Follow the steps to configure your Sign-In & Security preferences to add your Microsoft account to your Xbox console again.

In case the issue still persists, please let me know.

Also, all the games are installed on the internal Xbox storage? No external HD?

And do you receive any error message at all or not?

Hello, thank you for your response.

No I didn't think that it would be all of these series s consoles.

It started pretty much the day after the console was purchased, the first game that crashed was the Ascent and the others followed. They have played Forza briefly but other than that these are the only games we have played.

Not much troubleshooting tried, have checked for updates including system software updates. Have restarted the console and the wifi.

The games is fine one minute and crashing the next and it is happening on multiple games.

I hope you can help with this.
