Xbox Series S Allow Passthrough Receiver not detecting Surround Formats

For whatever reason my Xbox Series S is having problems passing the audio to my receiver. I usually select 5.1 Uncompressed as the base and then when Netflix or Disney+ is playing a movie the receiver will detect dolby digital formats and bitstream/passthrough properly. Now it seems allow passthrough isnt working properly. I have tested my receiver with a Blu ray player and it detects and shows the wording for the receiving audio from a disc properly.

Yhe xbox is not passing audio to the receiver like it used to. Now its only forcing pcm which is not good for surround when you want to have clean decoding handled by the receiver.

Hello i a have done the following for my Xbox Series S and still using Netflix or Disney+ with thr allow passthrough settings checked on my receiver does not detect any dolby digital or dts codecs. It only plays movies in PCM which isnt ideal. I have no idea why this is broken lol it used to work just fine weeks ago. Its random

Go to Settings>System>Console Information

And reset without deleting your games. Don't worry about progress, purchases, achievements, etc. You don't lose any data. Note that the console accounts will be removed, so you must have the email and password of each account to enter them again.

Audio signal may not be reaching your Xbox One correctly if the cable is damaged or not properly connected to your devices. If you mention that you have tried it on another device and it worked, it would not appear to be a cable problem, but it is worth checking.

Try to perform a cache clear with the following steps.

1. Press and hold the Power button on the front of your Xbox until the console turns off.

2. Unplug the power cord from the back of your Xbox One.

3. Wait a minute, and then plug the power cord back in.

4. Press the Power button on your Xbox to turn it back on.

5. Your cache should be clear at this point.

Having the same issue. On my Series X and S yhe Passthrough will be checked but it does not bitstream the content that it reads. Disney+ Max and Netflix do not pass the audio to my receiver. Stuck with PCM no Dolby Digital passthrough! Been looking for a solution for 3 months now!!

Bump this....I also have a HTPC that I'd love to get passthrough working properly. Even with the "beta" surround on I can only pass 2 channels from the PC. Supported formats only list Dolby Digital, no DTS or any HD formats.

I have DTS, DD, DD True HD, and DTS-HD files I'd love to play....hopefully they're working on a solution. Just a straight bitstream passthrough would work!
