    Sorry if this post is informal or has been made before. I've never used Reddit before, and joined just to ask this, because I'm completely stumped. I joined the Insider Program a few months ago on my Xbox Series S (All Digital Edition), and updated my system to the preview version. It's been running fairly fine without many issues, except one minor issue I ran into a few days ago, where pressing A on an app or game wouldn't open it. Besides that, though, it's been fine.

    ...until today. Last night, I finished playing a game like usual, closed it, and turned off the console. Today, I tried turning on the system, and it opened up to the start-up sound... and a black screen. I tried to switch the HDMI cable, use different ports, and even hard reset + power cycled the console a few times, but to no avail. I followed the instructions for performing an offline system update, but when I got to the part where I'm supposed to open the troubleshooting menu by holding the sync and power button until the 2nd noise and letting go, it... just showed a black screen again.

    I'm not really sure what's going on here. Is this the result of a failed update? The console JUST went out of warranty a couple months ago, so sending it in to get it repaired would be pretty expensive when I can get a new console for just a little more than the price to get it repaired. Any advice on both, what could have caused this, and how I could possibly fix it? Thank you a lot for the help, if any.

    My apologies, I forgot to add this:

    * If you have an all-digital console like the Xbox One S all-digital edition or the Xbox Series S, you can do the display reset and bring up the startup troubleshooter using holding the BIND button only.

    And yes there is a difference in troubleshooting steps

    One is digital unless you got the digital edition xbox one s and one is disk

    Xbox one series s, it is not part of the insider program, the screen reads: preparing console, it loads up to 61% and freezes on 61%. No other devices. And my xbox was taking basically 12 years to boot up this morning and so I did a power reset and that didn't work and a couple times the green xbox one screen would pop up and 5 minutes later disappear to a black screen.

    You have names mixed up. There are no consoles named the Xbox One Series S or Xbox One Series X.

    The Xbox One/One S/One X all have a disc drive.

    The Xbox One S All Digital Edition does not have a disc drive.

    The Xbox Series X has a disc drive.

    The Xbox Series S does not have a disc drive.

    All the consoles can play backward compatible games. The Series S and One S all digital edition can only play games digitally downloaded.

    The other consoles can play games from disc and from digitally downloaded,

    I hope this clears things up for you.

    They are all xbox one games

    Series consoles are xbox series s or x that's it

    Digital or disk thata all the options you get
