Xbox Series controller deadzone / response curve issue

Since I can’t seem to get anything but what I understand to be an automated response from @XboxSupport on Twitter, I’ll try one more time to raise attention to this wide-spread issue on here. The thumbsticks on the Xbox Series controller have been plagued since release. The range in which they don’t register any input is overly big. As a result, when they finally do start to pick up input they respond way too sensitively way too early. This makes for minor adjustments being near impossible to make and an unresponsive feel overall. This was not the case for its predecessor. I don’t intend to get too worked up about it but the following needs to be said. How does a glaring issue as such go unnoticed for more than two years? It shouldn’t take the average player more than 30 minutes of playtime to find out that something’s not right. Or just take a quick search on the web and find loads of upset people discussing the issue. Someone posted about this matter on r/XboxSeriesX back in 2021 and despite the traction it received, there’s still no fix. It’s nothing but a simple software issue either. Inexcusable.

    Xbox one controller deadzone

Hi Mazamoose7! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

If you have an standard Xbox controller, you can't change the dead zone in the Xbox accessories app, this will have to be changed in the game settings, if the game has the options for it

If you have an elite controller, on the accessories app you can change the response curve of the sticks that will be kind of a deadzone setting

Xbox elite series 2 thumbstick drift issues

How do you adjust the deadzones in the accessories app? as far as I can see you can only change the sensitivity curve and cant see any specific adjustment for deadzone.

XBOX Elite Series 2 controller on PC - Left thumbstick problems

Unfortunately the Elite controllers have a major issue of stick drift developing. Particularly on the left joystick. Even mine failed after just a year. Officially, setting the response curve to Instant in the the Accessory App helps a bit or sending in your old one for a new controller at a slightly discounted price. Unofficially, I did have some luck extending the life out on mine by using the program 'reWASD' to better fine tune deadzones and such. Unless you are knowledgeable with soldering, I dont recommend replacing the entire Joystick module as you will likely just brick the controller entirely.

The sick only fully responds when pushed halfway (series x)

Thanks for all the help. It's a new series X and I've tested another series S controller and it's the same. After searching it seems to be a combination of built in zones and response curves and that the sticks on the xbox have way less tension than ps4. Doesn't work well for my man hands.
