    Xbox series can turn on tv but not off?


    I just set up my series x , made sure cec is on but at the moment it seems like it will turn the tv on and start the xbox when I press on the remote or the controller but it is not telling the tv to shut off.

    I don't see an option to set the tv up in the xbox settings so I'm not sure what to look for. I am using the same hdmi cable from the last xbox and plugs look seated into the console and my 4k auto switch to the tv. The tv has had no firmware updates in the last [at least] 2 yrs. Thanks for any help.

    Do you mean if you turn your TV off, the Xbox turns off too? If so, this is normal behaviour when HDMI-CEC is enabled. To change this, go to Settings > General > TV & display options > TV & A/V power options.

    Uncheck 'Other devices can turn console off' if you don't want your TV to turn off your console.

    Having this issue with the series X and the 2020 77” LG OLED. Only thing that fixes it is turning the TV off and on.

    TV Turns off when turning xbox on

    Guess you have set up the xbox to turn on the tv and receiver. So it tries to do that when it is turned on (Xbox cannot sense that it is already on).

    Your tv model responds to turn on/off with the same infrared signal. So when it is on, it will turn off and vice versa with the same command. That's not a fault/problem from the xbox but from the tv manufacturer.

    So two options:

    - always turn on the tv by turning on the xbox and turn the tv off by turning the xbox off

    - or do not let the xbox turn on your tv and do that manually

    Silent so when you turn the tv off via the xbox the tv light goes off. the dvr light goes off and the ONE light goes off?

    And then simply saying XBOX ON it turns on then say tv on the tv and dvr turn on?

    I have tried turning everything off and disconnected everything, turned on the tv and connected the xbox to the amp and connected the amp to the tv making sure I plugged in to a arc input and turned that on I made sure the hdmi control on my amp was turned on my xbox will turn my amp on but my amp won't control my tv my old one s console had option to separately control both tv and amp but my series x console only has one option for cec control
