Xbox remote play not working on laptop or iPhone

I have the same problem my Xbox S controller will not let me sign in when I press home button, can sign in via iPhone and laptop but not remote.

Although the Xbox app is likely updated as well, I'll provide you with a procedure to verify that it is, along with the Game Services.

To update Xbox app and Game services

Press the Start button on the taskbar, type store, and open the Microsoft Store app.
Select Library.
Under Updates & downloads, check if there are any updates available for the Xbox app or Gaming Services app. If an update is available, select Update.

If everything is updated i suggest to try removing and reinstalling Gaming services.

To do this you must press the Start button on the taskbar,
type 'powershell,'
right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select 'Run as administrator.'

In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

Install the app on that page and select 'Yes' when you receive the User Account Control (UAC)
prompt.
Restart your device.

In the latest versions of the Xbox app for PC, you can also proceed by clicking on the icon of your gamertag, go to support, and you should find the restore option.

I am having the same problem can sign in via iPhone and laptop but not by my remote, I press the home button but the screen darkens.

Any suggestions?

I’m using my iPad or iPhone remotely when I play games. No HDMI cable. I reset network settings on my Xbox/iPad as well. No luck.

Unfortunately there’s no way to completely disable the headset on the Xbox, as it automatically assumes a headset is plugged in as soon as I start remote playing on my iPad or iPhone. As soon as I stop remote playing, it goes back to normal.

I'm having the same issue.

but I figured something about this.

When TV that connected to XBOX is turned on. remote play works.

but when TV is turned off. remote play is not working.

if I turn on my TV first, then remote play from my PC . it works perfectly.

then if I turn off my TV. suddenly Remote play become very unstable and stuttering.

and it disconnected automatically in a minute.

I tested wireless and wired , both behaves same.

and most importantly , this issue not reproducing iPhone and android phone remote play.

mobile phone remote play works perfectly no matter TV is turned on or not.
