Xbox Remote Play does not work on the go! Please help!

Why even have remote play then? Isn’t that kind of a terrible feature? If you need to be in the same location as your Xbox to get it to work, why not just play on your console? Shouldn’t the point of remote play to be able to play on the go when you’re away from your home?

We understand that you are trying to use the Xbox Remote play feature on your Xbox Console to play games. We think your Xbox console is set up properly. However, there is one thing you should be aware of when using Xbox Remote Play from an Xbox Console to a PC or phone: both devices need to be connected to the same network. In other words, your phone should be relatively close to the network that is connected to your console. While using a cellular connection for your phone is great, the Xbox Console on the other hand should also be connected to same cellular network.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with remote play.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please double-check remote play settings by making sure that it is still enabled on your Xbox. Go to Settings > Devices & Connections > Remote Features.

Confirm that Enable Remote Features is checked. Make sure your Xbox is set to Instant-On mode under Power Mode.

And then test your network because remote play requires a stable connection, make sure that both your console and device are on the same reliable network. To do this, run a network test on your Xbox via Settings > General > Network Settings > Test Network Speed & Statistics.

Restart your router if incase the connection seems unstable.

You can also switch to a wired connection for your console and see if it works.

Next is to clear the Xbox cache by holding the power button for 10 seconds. Unplug the console for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.

Then uninstall the Xbox app from your device. Restart and then reinstall the app and sign in again. Please reconnect to your Xbox.

To rule out network-specific issues, kindly connect both your Xbox and device to another network such as a mobile hotspot. If this resolves the issue, your primary network might need further troubleshooting.

If incase the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, please test remote play with another device can be a phone or PC. This helps identify if the issue is device-specific.

Just got an xbox one for xmas and the remote does not work. Toys r us is going to give us a problem I just know it...... I don't need a new system, just a remote........ advice on how to handle this or is it something xbox - Microsoft can help with and just
avoid the store?
