Xbox refusing to work

First and foremost, did you check the mic's connection with the controller or, if the setup is there, your console? Second, if it is a controller, try another controller and see if the issue persists. Third, try another mic. Of these 2, you'll rule out a controller and/or mic issue.

As for getting kicked from a party, confirm that one, you were not kicked by the party host. Two, your NAT is not strict, because some scrict connections will cause this. Three, your connection in general is not weak or patchy (run a connection test in Network Settings). Four, you don't have a communication restriction on your account.

Hello Archiethehead, E101, E102 errors are usually connected to faulty clusters of Xbox's internal HD, so your friend seems to be really right.

I don't know what your console model and is and how long your Xbox has, but these errors are realistic for hd clusters that are faulty, so the console can't install the operating system on the console causing this error.

Most of the time, an offline update can suppress these clusters, however over time and use of the console it appears again and you may have to change the console's internal HARD drive if it is no longer under warranty.

Oh, and I run on an Xbox one S and it's almost 5 years old. Do these factors affect anything?

Hello again, for the knowledge only, the Xbox HD is a normal computer HD, the Xbox One S can support an inclusive 2TB HD.

About to why this happens, there may be several factors such as power surges, poor console shutdown etc, it's really hard to know.
