Xbox record screen just can record one application?

Hi All,

I have a question. Facing problem when i use Xbox to screen recording. I am using Excel and Chome to do something and need to record all those steps. But i find out when my record start at Excel application, the recorder still record the Excel when i am using the chome. Means that , i unable to record the step i take in Chrome after i swap from Excel.

So, any configuration can make ? or Xbox only record one window/app at a time?Kindly help. Thank you.

The Windows Game Bar recording function isn't a screen recorder, it's limited to recording one game or application at a time. To record the whole screen you'll need a third party application.

Are you trying to record on a Windows 10 device or from your console?

The Windows Gamebar can only record one Window at a time or one full screen game at a time.

To record 'Many Windows' or the Windows Desktop will require a third party software application.

Hi there Jenny welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. When recording with Xbox Game Bar, it can only record **ONE application at a time**. Example: If you are on the Discord application, start recording, then Alt+Tab to a different application, it **might** stop. So try to avoid switching applications in the middle of your recordings.

If the recording stops at random times **WITHOUT you Alt+Tab -ing to a different application**, unfortunately, there's no clear solution.
