xbox random factory reset

Based on your description, there could be an issue with your Xbox console software. Are you able to sync your data via cloud by signing your account?

Try to perform another factory reset keep my games and apps.

Note: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
Select Reset console.
On the Reset your console? screen, you'll see three options. Be sure to choose the Reset and keep my games & apps option so that you don’t lose any of your games and apps.

This will also help sync the data on your console properly. Once you're done, install a game and observe if your console will still randomly factory reset by itself.

I found a possible "Solution" on Reddit, so I'm going to share it with you so you can give up on this problem, a user said the following:

The trick is to turn off your Xbox at the power outlet (after turning off the console with the power button, of course), wait about 5 minutes (or until it is permanently off), and then turn it back on. It seems that the problem occurs because if you do not have the power saving settings turned on, the Xbox is always "on", so it cannot restart properly.

Same issue with my cable through xbox one. I've tried literally every combination of resolutions including a factory reset... the problem is seemingly random just have others have said.

So even if I delete all of my games the progress will be saved with the accounts?

Regarding your question, there are two options when you try resetting your console. The first option you need to try is " reset and keep my games & app" with this option, your games stay installed but your console resets itself and removes the accounts you have.

The second option is "reset and remove everything" when you select this option your installed games are removed when the console resets, which means you will have to install them again.

As for your progress that is automatically linked to the cloud with your Microsoft account; which means if you play online you do not have to worry since you will not lose any data. You will just need to sign back in with the correct Microsoft account and you will get everything back just like it was before.
