    Xbox profile will not download after changing gamertag!


    So i had changed my gamertag on my series x console, and since then i am unable to download my 360 profile to play 360 games, for example L4D. i had called support twice & emailed, they are NO HELP. i tried these solutions that did not work: factory reset xbox, update security questions & password in microsoft, created an app password & authenticator, uninstalled and re installed my games, cleared 360 storage, tried using hotspot instead of wifi, tried logging in on a 360 console, etc. i did this MULTIPLE times trying to find a solution. i can log into my microsoft/live account on my series x and phone, its only when i try to play 360 games. i’ve been doing everything it says to do online. most of the games i play is 360 so if i cannot get this to work, im switching to ps5. this isnt the first time support has been no help whatsoever. does anybody know what else i can do? if i knew changing my gamertag would not allow me to download my 360 profile i would have never done it.

    I would recommend after you've tried everything to talk to Xbox Support, after they get your info and everything, they can assist with helping you get back into your account and you'll be stress free.

    It sounds like there is an issue logging on to just your console with that particular gamertag so none of your data should be lost. I'd try logging everyone out of your xbox and then trying to log on again. It may simply be a time related issue. If you
    just changed it within the past few hours it may take a bit for your info change to make its way through all the proper channels

    Couple things could be causing this.

    1. You have Two step verification on and need to either turn it off or use your app password.

    2. Your password is longer than 16 characters the password box on the 360s and the emulator on the Ones only accept 16 characters so when you are entering your password if it is longer than 16 characters then it will give you this error message because it
    does not recognize the characters past 16 so you would need to change your password to something less than 16
