    xbox profile issue with updates


    Hi Everyone

    I’ve had massive issues over the last year with my profile
    whenever I receive a sea of thieves update.

    None of my friends who also play the game on xbox have come
    across this issue.

    In short the game will eventually update but this can be 4
    days later.

    I keep receiving messages like “you need this update but we
    can’t get it at the moment or for some reason this game took too long to launch”

    My xbox is set to receive updates automatically and I’m at a
    lost on what it is.

    I have done restarts of my Xbox and removed my profile (keeping
    games and apps) but doesn’t resolve the issue.

    This gets so frustrating I just give up and uninstall the
    game and reinstall but I get the same issue when the next update comes around.

    I have more than one Xbox (now using a series x) and have
    replicated the issue so it’s not hardware related.

    I really don’t want to create another gamer tag as I’d be starting
    from scratch with my achievements.

    Any assistance or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    i have same problem cleared cache reformatted harddrive downloaded profile 3 times same garbage it say unformatted drive tou people just seem to try making us run in circles it doesnt even ask ask to load from harddrive or cloud anymore

    Hey there Brunner! Thanks for posting! That definitely sounds confusing, so let's see what we can do to get things sorted.

    At first glance, it sounds like something may be wrong with the storage device. It could be just a portion of the device, or it could be the entire thing.

    Here's a few questions to help us get a better idea of the situation:

    1. What sort of storage device are you using with this console (Microsoft Hard Drive, 3rd Party Hard Drive, USB Drive, Internal Flash Memory, etc)?
    2. Are you able to play disc-based games without issue?
    3. When you go into your storage device on the console (Settings > System > Storage > then selecting your storage device), do you see any corrupt files? Those are noted by a yellow exclamation mark ( ! ) next to them. I would check under "Profiles" and "Games
      and Apps" first.

    You can also try redownloading your profile and seeing how that goes for you. To do that:

    I also had this issue after downloading the latest update. I deleted my profile, cleared the cache on everything connected to the xbox,deleted the update and reformatted my drive. When it restarted it downloaded the update again then i downloaded my profile
    and it finally worked. Hope this helps everyone also.
