Xbox Privacy Setting issues

I'm having issues with trying to get rid of privacy settings on my Xbox account but it doesn't seem to work, my dad had parental controls on my Xbox when I was younger and now we've removed the settings and myself from the family but ever since it still keeps the parental controls, we've tried to reconnecting the family account again and it still has the issue and when we would disconnect it again it still shows up the same thing, and gets worse when I try to login to my Xbox account on a browser it keeps sending me back to a Privacy setting telling me I am still on a child account with it saying "Why can't I change my privacy settings"

Hi, I hope you're doing great despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

It means that you're still a minor. If you're added as a member under your dad's Microsoft account (https://account.microsoft.com/family), he needs to sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings to manage your privacy settings.

UPDATE: After a little bit of searching around, I have discovered that there is an adult account linked to mine, but it isn't an account which I am familiar of. Is there a way to remove the link between the adult account and mine without accessing the adult
account?

I am in the USA - Sorry for the delay - was on semi-vacation

Can see everything except Beacon and Bio at this time.

Can see your friends list, games played but not the beacons.

Sometimes if you set 1 setting to private, till will cascade to the other setting, even if they are set to a public setting.

After you reach the age of adulthood, you can promote a child account to an adult account. This promotion removes the Family Settings and Xbox LIVE restrictions. To promote a child account to an adult account, Sign in to Xbox LIVE by using the account that
you want to change. Go to Settings, and then select Account. Select Promote Child Account.

Note This option is available only if the date of birth for the account indicates that you have reached the age of adulthood . The legal adult age varies by country and region. The age of an account owner is calculated by using the date of birth provided
when the account was created. This date cannot be changed. If you entered an incorrect date of birth when you created the account, your only option is to create a new account using the correct date of birth.

Follow the on-screen instructions to promote the account.
